PRESS RELEASE: Tokyo, Japan, February 27, 2019
Infintium, today launched their high efficiency DCDC power conversion system that supports a wide range of power requirements for fuel cell vehicles, solar regulation, grid storage systems, and backup power applications.
Infinitum’s PCS is designed to meet the demands of heavy duty fuel cell vehicles and to convert a wide range of input voltages to output with boost ratios greater than six times (6X) and conversion efficiencies greater than ninety-eight percent (98%). The high boost ratio of the product enables fuel cell stacks from 25-125 kilowatts to operate on high-voltage vehicle traction platforms with voltages up to 800 volts. For Solar and UPS applications maximum power can reach 180 kilowatts when utilizing smaller boost ratios. Infintium’s proprietary Silicon Carbide based design incorporates high efficiency switching technologies allowing for operating temperature excursions of more than 200C enabling higher power densities and a smaller footprint. In addition, our design interleaves power phases and utilizes spread spectrum switching which reduces total system ripple over traditional silicon designs.
“Experienced fuel cell integration teams realize that power conversion efficiency is extremely important in vehicle design.”, says Thomas Lynch, CEO of Infinitum, “Every one percent (1%) of power lost in conversion, has at least a two percent (2%) negative impact on the efficient use of hydrogen gas. The bottom line – higher conversion efficiency drives better vehicle mileage.”
The Infinitum team has a long history in Power Electronics and DCDC converter development. Our proprietary designs have been commercially used in fuel cell lifts trucks for years providing highly reliable and efficient power conversion for a range of motive power applications. The shift to hydrogen fuel cells for large, heavy use vehicles is past the tipping point and power conversion, like a transmission for fossil fuel engines, is the essential component to achieve maximum efficiency.
ABOUT Infintium, Inc
Infintium, Inc. is an original designer and manufacturer of the next generation of zero emission Hydrogen Power Cells for motive applications. Infintium is revolutionizing what hydrogen power can achieve in material handling applications. The Company has introduced the industry’s first ‘data recorder’ that mimics the characteristics of flight recorders in the airline industry. Our sensor fusion design collects hundreds of data points per second, providing a virtual replay of the trucks performance over any given period of time. Our on-board health monitoring system delivers increased reliability and efficiency for the next generation of material handling demands.
Infintium is part of the Dare Group, a public company listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, with worldwide headquarters located in Shanghai, China. Dare has over 5,200 employees worldwide, with eighteen factories and seven R&D facilities located in ten countries spanning North America, Europe and Asia.
